“Ornamental, My Dear Watson”

Inspired by William Maxwell’s “The Lily-White Boys,” one of my own favorite holiday tales, “Ornamental, My Dear Watson” features a well-known investigative duo—though perhaps not quite as you remember them.

This Christmas story was published by Crippen & Landru as a limited-edition standalone pamphlet for their subscribers—intended as a 2020 holiday gift, but published belatedly in January 2021. (Blame the pandemic! Hope people enjoyed anyway.)
